BT is trying to acquire EE for no less than 13 billions of pounds and Three, which has been ranked second best telecommunications services provider behing EE, would like to buy his direct competitor, O2 UK, for 10£ billion. New competitors among the mobile virtual network operators are to arrive, as both Carphone and Sky have shown their interest to lauch their own. The performance of the four english networks (EE, Three, O2 and Vodafone) are improving, with faster speed, better coverage for 4G, 3G, better availability, and prices dropping. Their investement in future technologies and in customer care are aslo rising. There is still a huge gap between the 2 leaders, EE and Three, and the 2 last, O2 and Vodafone, that is widening for 3 years.

This technology would seem to be a lot less expensive that covering all the land with regular terrestrial antennas, and that it would be a lot more flexible. It could aswell provide support to terrestrial antennas for large gathering in big citys, or in the case of a natural disaster.
